Our current facilities (church, hall, classrooms and office) have reached their limits. This past Sunday there were no parking spaces available. We have to have five masses on the weekend to accommodate everyone. The hall is much too small for our celebrations. We do not have enough classrooms and the classrooms do not fit enough people. To meet the needs of our growing parish we will need to expand our facilities over the next ten years. This year we will be working on getting the road around the parish fixed and the gravel road asphalted. We are also working on fencing in the northern lot for safety and security reasons. As has been mentioned before, we are also working on housing for the sisters.
When we talk about facilities, one of the first things people mention is a bigger church. When you drew out your visions for St. Robert’s, the most common vision was a new church building and larger facilities. It has long been brought up that we need a bigger church and, as much as I would like to ignore that reality, it is true. Over the next ten years we will be looking at constructing not only a larger church, but also larger facilities to be able to accompany and teach all who are being evangelized and brought to Christ. El Campo is growing not only from Houston moving west, but also from immigrants moving into the area because of the good job opportunities. This is something for which we need to prepare and thankfully we have five acres on our northern lot into which we can expand. We will plan and work on this together as a parish in the upcoming years.
